What is the King of Cornhole?
It is the title of Best Cornhole Player in the World, the World Champion of Cornhole. It is also the featured cornhole event at the ACO World Championships of Cornhole.
How do I enter the King of Cornhole?
You must secure a Golden Ticket to participate in the King of Cornhole. There are three ways to secure a Golden Ticket:
1. Get in the CornyForty (top forty) in the World Rankings by earning World Ranking Points at ACO tournaments.
2. Win a Golden Ticket at a King of Cornhole Qualifier.
3. Purchase your entry online.
If I win a Golden Ticket, why should I play in other ACO tournaments?
The Golden Ticket gets a player into the King of Cornhole. A player can improve their seed at the King of Cornhole by earning World Ranking Points. Players without World Ranking Points will be seeded with the other non-points earning players.
How do I earn World Ranking Points?
You earn World Ranking Points participating in ACO Pro tournaments and taking a Skills Challenge.
What is a Skills Challenge?
A Skills Challenge is a quantified method to determining a player’s skill level. Each Skills Challenge consists of playing one Frame Game. (A Frame Game is thirteen frames, throwing four bags per frame.) The resulting score is the Skills Challenge Rating. Only the single best SCR taken between the first week after the World Championships and Sunday midnight TurkeyHole weekend will be applied to a player’s World Ranking or Social Ranking.
Can anyone be on the World Rankings?
Only ACO members, Professional and Non-Professional, may be on the World Rankings.
Can anyone be on the Social Rankings?
Only Non-Professional ACO members may be on the Social Rankings.
What is the CornyForty?
The CornyForty is the name of the Top 40 players in the World Rankings.
What is the SocialSixty?
The SocialSixty is the name of the Top 60 players in the Social Rankings.
Can I win money at ACO events?
Yes. Players under the age of 21 are eligible to win prize monies at Masters Series tournaments and monies allocated towards CornyForty.
What events are on the ACO Tour?
The ACO Tour consists of three types of events: Masters Series, Signature Series and King of Cornhole Qualifiers.
What is the Masters Series?
Master Series are regional events with Pro and Social/Recreational tournaments held on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday. These events are scheduled in various markets across the country on specified weekends. The following events are Masters Series events: IceHole Classic, HoleMania, Spring Fling, Cornhole de Mayo, Great American Pitchout, Maize Kraze, HoleBash, Cornhole Classic, Hole-o-ween and TurkeyHole Classic. Masters Series events are points earning tournaments.
What is the Signature Series?
Signature Series are national events with Pro and Social/Recreational tournaments. Unlike Masters Series events, Signatures Series events are only in one location. World Ranking Points are not awarded at Signature Series events.
What is a King of Cornhole Qualifier?
King of Cornhole Qualifiers are local tournaments. Winners receive a Golden Ticket and an ACO membership.
What is the format for ACO tournaments?
Masters Series Pro Singles tournaments are Hole Play (round robin), Double Elimination, Single Game, Traditional Scoring. Players are seeded in Hole Play based on their World Ranking, Social Ranking, then Random. Signature Series Pro Singles tournaments and King of Coenhole Qualifier formats vary.
What are the entry fees for the Pro tournaments?
Pro Singles Series tournaments at Masters Series events are $30. Signature Series and King of Cornhole Qualifier entry fees vary.
Do I have to be an ACO member to play?
No.
Are players allowed to bring their own bags to a tournament?
Yes, as long as the bags are checked-in and verified with the Certified Official at the time of event registration.
How do I become a ACO Pro?
For the 2011 season, players who ended the 2010 season in the CornyForty and were in the 64-player bracket at the King of Cornhole are considered Pro players. A player must earn 204 World Ranking Points to earn/retain Pro status.
What are the benefits to being a Pro?
Eligible to purchase Pro jersey, participate in exclusive Pro events and 10% discount at ACO Store.
Are Pro players eligible to participate in Social Series tournaments?
No.
Is there an Age Limit to participate?
No. Starting in 2012, players under the age of 21 will be eligible to participate unless an alcoholic company becomes a sponsor.
